Put the Window Down and Sing

My niece, Addison, is one of the most delightful four year olds you will ever meet. You cannot resist her charm and loving personality. Addison has abundant joy in her life. She loves to sing and never misses an opportunity to sing a song or two for you. She literally bursts into the room with a huge smile and will light up your world. I am so blessed to have Addison in my life.

Her Mimi told me a story about Addison and her singing. I want to share it with you as accurately as I can remember.  On a cold day this winter, Addison was in the car with her mother. Addison was in her seat in the back and was enjoying singing along with the music on her CD. Her mom noticed that Addison had put the window down.  She asked Addison why she would put the window down when it was so cold outside.  Addison told her mom “I wanted God to hear”.

I don’t know about you but I would love to be as full of joy and praise as Addison. There are days when driving to work and singing with my praise and worship music that I am full of joy and praise. There are also days when my praise level is low and the Lord will supply my need by allowing the lyrics of a song to minister to me as if I had never heard it before. His mercies are truly new every morning.

Just as I am blessed by Addison’s joy and love, how much greater is our Lord blessed when we praise Him and present to Him a joyful heart? When I allow Satan to steal my joy, my fellowship is broken with the Lord. When life is full of troubles and I can keep my focus on the Lord and keep that joyful spirit, Satan is defeated and the Lord is glorified.

Is there an Addison in your life? Is there someone who always has a word of praise for the Lord? How often every day do you present an offering of praise to the Lord? How often do you speak a word of praise about what God is doing in your life?  Could you be bold and share a word of testimony about a blessing the Lord has provided for you?

The Gaither Vocal Band sing a song entitled, “Greatly Blessed and Highly Favored”.  I love this song.  It should be our greeting to all we meet.  If you are greatly blessed and highly favored, put the window down and let God and the world hear about it.  Sing it loud and proud!

If you are not greatly blessed and highly favored, seek God’s will for your life and submit to His leading and you will be greatly blessed and highly favored.

Psalm 66: 1-4

Shout joyfully to God, all the earth;

Sing the glory of His name;

Make His praise glorious.

Say to God, “How awesome are Thy works!

Because of the greatness of Thy power, Thine enemies will give feigned obedience to Thee.

All the earth will worship Thee

And sing praises to Thee;

They will sing praises to Thy name.”
