Making Decisions
This week I had the pleasure of having breakfast with my
sister, Sharon and her son, Josh. He
began telling us about the conversation he had with his four year old dauther
the night before. She told him that she
was having a difficult time making a decision about who should be her
boyfriend. She had three likely
candidates, Zanner, Jack and David. She
just could not decide which of these boys she should choose to be her
boyfriend. It was obvious that this was
an important decision for her.
Her dad gave wise counsel and reminded her that she really
could not have a boyfriend until she was much older and that he would be her
boyfriend until that time. She seemed to
be satisfied with that resolution to her dilemma. Allie has developed a relationship with her
father so that the next time she needs to make a decision, she knows she can go
to him and that he will listen to her and give her good counsel.
I was thinking about Allie’s problem solving strategy. She went to her father. She chose a time when they were alone and she
told him what was bothering her
and asked him to give her help. What
a great example Allie has set for us.
When we need help, we need to go to our Heavenly Father who has always
promised to be our help in time of trouble.
Allie could have spent her time fretting and worrying and trying to
resolve her problem on her own. She is smarter than that!
Do you have some decisions to make? Are you troubled about making a
decision? Do you need to find some time
to be with your Father? Are you fretting
and worrying instead of going to your Father with your needs?
James 1:5 “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives
to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”
Isaiah 40:10 “Fear not for I am with you Be not dismayed for I am your God I will strengthen you Yes I will help you I will uphold you with my righteous hand.” Psalm 62:1 “My soul waits in silence for God only; from Him is my salvation.”
